AI is becoming an increasingly important part of the MIPCOM conversation, from content creation and distribution to the data needed to train the next generation of AI models. This October, that conversation has a dedicated home at AI HQ, a new Premium Lounge bringing together the people, companies and ideas shaping the intersection of AI and media.
Located on Level 1 of the Palais des Festivals, AI HQ will be open throughout MIPCOM Cannes, October 12–15, giving media companies, technology companies, rights holders and AI teams a place to meet, exchange ideas and get into the practical questions around where the industry is heading.
Versos AI is a Headline Partner of the MIP AI Entertainment Forum and will be at AI HQ throughout the week.
AI HQ is designed as a space for the AI and media community to connect during MIPCOM.
The focus is on the areas where the two industries are increasingly overlapping: AI-powered production and distribution, the development of new media technologies, and the growing demand for high-quality content and video data to train AI systems.
For rights holders, one of the most interesting developments is the emergence of a market for video data. Media companies have spent decades building libraries containing enormous amounts of footage, much of which has potential value beyond its original distribution.
The challenge is finding the right material, understanding what is in the library, determining what can be licensed and preparing it to meet the requirements of an AI buyer.
That is a conversation we’ll be having throughout the week at AI HQ.
On Monday, October 12 at 10:05, Chris Keevill, co-founder and CEO of Versos, will join John Wesley Chisholm of Arcadia Entertainment and Ludo Dufour of CuriosityStream for a panel at the Innovation Lab:
The Next Chapter in AI Training Data: The Shift to Specialized Video Data and Provenance
Moderated by Catherine Warren of FanTrust, the panel will explore how demand for AI training data is becoming more specialized, what AI companies are looking for in video datasets, and the growing importance of provenance and rights information.
The shift is significant for media companies. The opportunity is no longer simply about making large volumes of video available. Buyers increasingly want specific types of content that can be identified, structured and delivered according to their requirements.
That puts a new focus on the value hidden inside existing video libraries and the technology needed to make those libraries searchable and commercially usable.
AI HQ will also be a place for practical conversations about AI licensing.
Throughout MIPCOM, Versos will be offering Content Value Assessments for AI Licensing to media companies and rights holders interested in understanding their potential opportunity in the AI data market.
The assessment looks at a library from the perspective of AI licensing: what content it contains, how accessible and searchable it is, what types of datasets could potentially be created from it, and what needs to happen to prepare it for prospective buyers..
AI HQ will be open throughout MIPCOM Cannes at the Premium Lounge, stand P1.B 4 on Level 1 of the Palais des Festivals.
On Monday, October 12 at 17:00, we’ll also be hosting the AI HQ Happy Hour on the terrace, bringing together the media and AI communities for drinks, canapés and conversation.
